The intent of this web site is to encourage genealogical research of the family name Carruthers.

It is a very ancient and noble name. The name was very prevalent in the border regions of Scotland and England. The family served as stewards to the Bruce's (Robert the Bruce) the royal family of Scotland. They have their own Coat of Arms, the motto being "Promptus et fidelus".
